My feelings about the peer reviews

Ok so the question layed out before me is What did I think of the peer reviews? Well here is my answer....I really enjoy receiving the peer reviews, but I do not like giving them. I feel good when a fellow classmate takes the time to read my writing and lets me know where I am strong and what needs work. I love reading others thoughts and ideas about the topic I am writing about. I do not mind reading my classmates work but I do not like telling them what I feel is good or what needs improvement. I feel that if there are flaws in my paper who am I to try and tell someone else what is good or not good in theirs. I do not mean to take all my peers thoughts and not give back in return, it is just hard for me to pick things out that I feel are good or bad. I hope no one takes this personally but it is really hard for me to tell people what I like and what I do not. I am trying really hard to so just bare with me. Hopefully you all are having a great week and I hope you all had a great ThanksGiving. "see" you all in seminar.

ROUGH DRAFT & PDO

OMG I am so far behind. I am really feeling the demand of school and children at this point. 3 of my kids have been coming home with school projects and none of them seem to know how to do anything they are supposed to do. I know what I want to cover in my paper it is just hard to find enough information for the paper to come together. I know we can not use web sites that end in .com or .org and so finding enough info in the KU library is kind of hard. All the articles I have found so far are talking about foreign country statistics and I am not sure that is good enough. I just have a major headach after the day is done trying to read all the material I have found and just get too tired to write anything so I have all these notes and it is hard to put everything together. So as you all can see this last 6 weeks I have been in a writers block/ kind of almost meltdown. Hard to explain but bottom line is I can not tell you how many times I have literally just wanted to give up. I know I shpould not think that but I so want to pass this class and I feel now that I may have chosen the wrong topic to write about. Oh well too late to ponder that right now I better get started on this paper and get busy finishing up my rough draft at least I got the introduction finished.  I am going to work double time and just keep telling myself that this is the rough draft and I still have time to make it better. Good luck with all your papers and hopefully I will get over this little attitude I have LOL.

UUgghh the prewriting phase

I have actually started the term paper and if I do say so myself I feel I am off to a very good start. I hate the prewriting phase the most I think, because everytime I go back to it and read what I have written I feel I need to change it. I am trying very hard to come up with a strong solid thesis statement but it is very hard, here is what I have so far....

Many of today’s youth are making very grown up choices, with very severe repercussions some of which may have long lasting effects, none of which teenagers are ready for. These include but are not limited to regret of choices, possible domestic problems, continuing chain of events, and monetary downfalls.
Please feel free to leave comments I need all the help I can get. I also need help finding some good solid info so if any of you are doing Preventing Teenage Pregnancy as your topic and found some references that may not have worked for you please let me know they may work for me. I have to get a feel for the APA format soon and am hoping to get my reference page done and over with and not have to make any changes. LOL I am hoping everyone else is under way on their paper and that it is going smoothly.Other than doing my paper I am busy trying to stay on top of my daughters assignments in 7th grade as well she has 2 projects due within a couple of days of each other and it is sad because I do not recall having this much homework when I was in jr high. Well I do not know what else to say except I better get my toosh in gear and get back to my paper. Hopefully I can keep this momentum going and hit all the deadlines. Thanks for listening and hope to hear from you all soon.

Unit 4 starting on 11-03-2010

Here is my blog entry for this week. I should really get on here more often which I am going to try. I am haveing difficulties with starting my research for my paper and am getting nervous that I will not have my information ready in time. I am a very big procrastinator and I really need to change but find it very hard to. Please any suggestions will greatly appreciated.
hope you like my post this week.

Based upon your reading on plagiarism, why do you think we need to cite our sources?
From what I have read on plagiarism, I feel it is necessary to cite where and who we get out information from because the stuff we may use is not our own thoughts. We must give credit to those who came up with the stuff we are taking our info from. Like if we were to invent something we would need to get a patent to protect our ideas.

What would you do if someone used something you created without giving you credit?
If someone was to use my ideas in the work enviroment and I knew they were my ideas and had proof I would go to someone higher up and let them know. If I did not have proof I would most likely do nothing because I am just that type of person I hate confrontation and would not know what to do about it.
Consider some of the real-world plagiarism issues you have learned of that include professionals. How should those issues be handled?
I feel plagiarism although it is bad is not something where legal action needs to be taken. You see it all the time in situations where toys or food may be copied. Like the toy Pillow Pals where the pillow doubles as a toy I see the exact same thing at a local retailer but there it is called a pillow pet. I am not totally sure if that is a type of plagiarism or not so feel free to correct me. I think that if plagiarism is learned about people would not commit it as often, at least I hope not LOL.
Does the Internet blur the lines of legally owned? Consider sites like YouTube and Wikipedia.
I am not totaly sure what the saying "blur the lines" means so anyone that reads this please comment on this portion especially so that I may answer at a later date.
